Sport Nouveau is a one-minute film developed to express the creative direction of Paris 2024 Sport Presentation. Its starting point is the search for a precise gesture: the movement that connects an athlete with an artwork, a scene from a film or an everyday action.
I developed the visual treatment, researched the images and built the edit and motion design. Split screens, matching compositions and graphic lines create links between sporting action and cultural references.
The film and its original note of intent sit alongside later correspondence research and field-hockey studies, showing how the same approach could be explored across individual sports.

The image search was central to the work. A resemblance had to remain readable when the two sources were brought together: the direction of a movement, the angle of a body, a horizon or the shape of an object.
The working document sports_WIP records possible connections by discipline, from cinema and painting to sculpture, music and architecture. The field-hockey studies below turn this research into concrete compositions.

Once a pair of images works, the transition becomes part of the idea. The split can slide, rotate or change scale. Graphic overlays underline a trajectory, while typography and rhythm carry the sequence forward.
The original treatment brings together lines of force, arches, proportions and the persistence of shapes. Its references and music options explain the visual direction behind the film.
