THE COLLABORATION

Give each collectionits own voice.

Since 2021, I have created motion design and films for Christie’s sales, private collections and exhibitions, both with Carmin Productions and directly with the Christie’s team. The subjects move between fine art, design, photography, books, jewellery and fashion.

Each commission starts with a particular story: an artist, a collector, an exceptional object or the character of a sale. My work turns the supplied images, archives, footage and editorial material into a film, shaping its visual language, montage, typography and rhythm. The aim is to make the subject inviting while giving the works room to be seen.

The selection brings together different approaches: graphic collage for Yves Gastou, a journey into the perspective of a Hoogstraten painting, and short films built around collections, archival portraits and individual objects.

Looking closely — texture, colour and detail.
Working with archives — image, typography and composition.
01 / IMAGE & NARRATIVE

Find the movementin the material.

The starting point is the material itself: photographs of works, details, period portraits, archive footage and the texts supplied for the sale. I organise these elements into a sequence, deciding what should lead, where the viewer needs time to look, and how one image can carry us into the next.

The treatment changes with the subject. A painting can suggest a movement through depth; a collection can become a layered collage; a sculptor’s archive can connect the person, the studio and the object. Masks, cut-outs, texture and animated typography give still material a sense of progression.

Music, voices and pauses shape the edit. For Claudia Cardinale, an archive interview became part of the rhythm and atmosphere of the jewellery film. The sound and images were developed together, keeping the objects at the centre of the sequence.

02 / COMPOSE FOR THE SCREEN

One story.Different frames.

A vertical film has a different reading order from a widescreen composition. I rework framing, the scale of the objects, text placement and the pace of transitions for each delivery. The square format creates another balance between image and type.

Short social edits also ask for a clear opening and a concise sequence. The same visual identity runs through the versions, while each composition is made for the space in which it will be watched.

03 / TYPE, TEXTURE & IDENTITY

A languagefor each sale.

The visual treatment begins with the sale’s identity and the works it brings together. Lettering can establish a rhythm, frame an image or become the transition itself. Colour, grain, paper and photographic detail help connect the graphic elements to their subject.

From the vivid typography of Photographies to the archival layers of L’Enragé — Hommage à Jean Fautrier, these compositions show how each project develops its own tone within Christie’s communication.
